Check out this amazing rooftop coverage of a twister crossing over the Connecticut River and sucking up TONS of the water hundreds of feet into the air. Fast forward to the 40 second mark to see the twister as it is right over the river. This is crazy to see!! My sympathies go out to anyone who is dealing or has dealt with any of these catastrophes.
